A typical day at Nivan Lodge Pre-school Nursery

A daily routine gives children a sense of security. This is why we ensure each day is properly structured while leaving enough time for spontaneous activities.

The hours of attendance at both Nivan lodge and Little Nivan are 9.00 -12.00.

The daily routine at a glance

Time Activity

09:00 a.m. - 09:30 a.m.

Arrival time. All children are recorded in the daily register and then settle into a wide variety of age-appropriate toys, games and activities.
09:30 a.m. Doors close. Children arriving after this time are recorded as late.
09:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

Children continue with activities which can be either child or adult led. The children are free to make their own activity choices. During this period the children are offered a drink of milk or water, some fruit or an alternative healthy snack. 
11:00 a.m. - 11:15 a.m. Circle time. We gather together on the carpet, greet one another and sing the 'hello' song using makaton signing as we do. Children are encouraged to bring items relating to the topic to show the other children at this time and to share relevant stories and information. All the children are encouraged to help tidy up at this time  and to help store the equipment away safely
11:15 p.m. - 11:30 p.m. Singing time.
11:30 p.m. - 11:45 p.m. P.E. Every morning we have a P.E.-related activity. There is also a separate corner of activities available for those who prefer something quieter.
11:45 a.m. - 12:00 a.m. Story time
12:00 noon

End of session. All children are collected.
12:00 noon -1:00 p.m. Lunch Club. (Tues / Wed / Thurs only)
